Choral & Solo Singing
Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival hosts many competitions for
Solo Singing, Primary School choirs, Post Primary choirs, Youth and Adult choirs.
These competitions provide an opportunity for soloists and choirs to showcase their talent and have a meaningful experience in music and vocal performance.
Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival recognises that choral singing is alive and well and reaching high standards, due to the hard work and commitment of music teachers and choir directors.
Primary Schools Choral Competitions
For each competition, the winner will be presented with a Perpetual cup. Prizes for second and third places will be determined by the number of entries in each competition.
Competition PR1
SEÁN CREAMER PRIMARY SCHOOL / NATIONAL PRIMARY SCHOOL CHOIR OF THE YEAR COMPETITION
The winning choir will be presented with the Seán Creamer Perpetual trophy and €300.
Competition PR2
No entry fee required for this competition.
IRISH LANGUAGE: PRIMARY SCHOOL CÓMORTAS CHÓIR NA MBUNSCOILEANNA

Two contrasting pieces in 2 or more parts, Junior Cycle students.

TWO pieces, in unison or part, which must be sung in the Irish language.

Youth Choral Competitions
Y1: National Junior Youth Choir of the Year
Note: Junior Youth Choirs: ages 13 – 20 years.
The winning choir will be presented with a Perpetual Cup and €150
All Choirs to perform one piece in three categories
Performance 1: Sacred Music . One Piece. Any combination of parts, any combination of voice
Performance 2: Popular Music. One Piece. Any combination of parts, any combination of voice
Performance 3. Own Choice. One Piece. Any combination of parts, any combination of voice.
Marks will be awarded for each piece performed.
The Choir with the highest accumulated score, from all three performances, will be announced as the National Junior Youth Choir of the Year.
Choirs must provide their own accompanist.
Y2: National Senior Youth Choir of the Year
NOTE: Senior Youth Choirs: Ages 19 years and upwards.
The winning choir will be presented with a Perpetual Cup and €250
Performance 1: Sacred Music . One Piece. Any combination of parts, any combination of voice
Performance 2: Popular Music. One Piece. Any combination of parts, any combination of voice
Performance 3. Own Choice. Two contrasting pieces. Any combination of parts, any combination of voice.
Marks will be awarded for each piece performed.
The Choir with the highest accumulated score, from all three performances, will be announced as the National Senior Youth Choir of the Year.

Y3: National Children’s Choir of the Year
NOTE: Children’s Choirs: Age up to 13 years’.
The winning choir will be presented with a Perpetual Cup.

Solo Singing Competitions
No entry fee required for competition S5, S6, & S7. |
Adult Choir Competitions
The winner of each competition will be presented with a Perpetual Cup and €250. Prizes for second and third places will be determined by the number of entries in each competition.
The winner of the National Choir of the Year will be presented with the Rotary Club of Navan Perpetual Cup and €1,000. The choir in second place will be presented with a trophy and €300.
