Choral & Solo Singing
Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival hosts many competitions for
Solo Singing, Primary School choirs, Post Primary choirs, Youth and Adult choirs.
These competitions provide an opportunity for soloists and choirs to showcase their talent and have a meaningful experience in music and vocal performance.
Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival recognises that choral singing is alive and well and reaching high standards, due to the hard work and commitment of music teachers and choir directors.
Primary Schools Choral Competitions
For each competition, the winner will be presented with a Perpetual cup. Prizes for subsequent places will be determind by the number of entries in each competition.
Competition PR1
NATIONAL PRIMARY SCHOOL CHOIR OF THE YEAR
The winning choir will be presented with the Seán Creamer Perpetual trophy and €300.
Competition PR2
No entry fee required for this competition.

Junior Youth Choirs

Y4: National Junior Youth Choir of the Year
- The winning choir will be presented with a Perpetual Cup and €150.
- Two contrasting pieces, any combination of parts, any combination of voice
Choirs must provide their own accompanist.
Senior Youth Choirs
Y5: Senior Youth Choirs: Popular Music
Two contrasting pieces in the popular realm. Choirs may be accompanied by a selection of instruments. No pre-recorded content is allowed.
Y6: National Senior Youth Choir of the Year
- The winning choir will be presented with a Perpetual Cup and €200.

Choirs must provide their own accompanist.
Solo Singing Competitions
All competitors are required to perform two contrasting pieces of their own choice. Pre-recorded accompaniments and/or backing tracks are not allowed. Please refer to the Rules & Regulations regarding age qualification.
Competition S1 – Under 11

Competition S5 – Under 13 – Two pieces of your own choice sung in Irish language
Competition S6 – Under 16 – Two pieces of your own choice sung in Irish language
Competition S7 – Under 19 – Two pieces of your own choice sung in Irish language
Competition S8 – Under 30
No entry fee required for competition S5, S6, & S7.
Adult Choir Competitions
The winner of each competition will be presented with a Perpetual Cup and €250. Prizes for second and third places will be determined by the number of entries in each competition.
The winner of the National Choir of the Year will be presented with the Rotary Club of Navan Perpetual Cup and €1,000. The choir in second place will be presented with a trophy and €300.
